We printed the first copy of Speak Up Magazine’s inaugural issue!
For the remaining 9,999 copies, we need your help.
It’s 32 pages, 9 x 11 inches, full color and printed on a classy 80-lb stock. This magazine has the potential to give hope and employment to many homeless and low-income individuals in Charlotte, NC, and nearby. By selling it on the street, they earn income and gain self-respect.
Just a few days ago I spoke with a lady who has fallen on hard times. She isn’t homeless, but she may be soon. “My landlord said that if I don’t get a job by the end of the month, I’ll be kicked out,” she told me. She loves the street magazine idea and is anxious to stay off the streets. This could be her lifeline.
We’d like to see an initial print run of 10,000 copies. To cover printing costs and overhead, we need to raise $8,000 by August 31, 2011. Of that goal, $3,200 has already come in.
So, here’s the big question: can you write a check to Speak Up for $4,800?
Yes? Great! Call Matt Shaw at (704) 900-1836 or click to donate below.
No? No problem. How about $1000 or $100 or $10 or any amount in between?
