About the Charlotte Street Magazine
The print magazine at Speak Up is being developed to offer practical and enterprising solutions to the challenges of local poverty and homelessness in Charlotte, NC. We’re working to develop funding and content for a monthly magazine that gives a clear-eyed, non-politicized look at the needs of our community and provides a voice for the homeless. The magazine will offer creative solutions, highlight what’s already working, and issue a rallying cry to those with resources and the the desire to help.
The job of distributing the magazine goes exclusively to homeless and low-income individuals, giving them a chance for legitimate, livable income. This is a based on a model that is successful in hundreds of cities around the globe and has touched the lives of a quarter of a million low-income individuals in the last decade and a half.
